My name is Mihai Mugurel, callsign YO8RHM. My QTH is Botosani and I have the KN37IR locator. I am a radio-amateur from 1991,when I have joined the radio-club in my city, discovering with this occasion the splendid world of radio-amateurism and within it the wonderful people who are the radio-amateurs and their ''chirping toys''.The radio is not just my passion, it is also an important part of my life. This passion was born since I was studying in high school when I managed to build my first receptor with US reaction, having 2 transistors as active elements. This was followed by other complex radio ''buildings''; I made my first transmitter after obtaining the third class emission authorization and also had my first radio bond. As every radio-amateur in my generation, I passed through electronic tubes, transistors and integrate circuits' period.

I have been activated as a receptor since 1985, gaining the knowledge I used to obtain my emission license. This happened in 1990, when I passed with the maximum mark the exam, obtaining the certificate and the third class radio-amateur authorization. Since 1995, I have been using a second class authorization.

I have always been fascinated by the unknown parts of the telegraphy so by this reason I am a fan of this mean of communication. The first steps in telegraphy world I made on my own, not respecting the rules, by building a classic key and transmitting the signals. Later, I have realized my first bug with 3 integrated circuits and a key, a little rudimentary, which I began to practice with. The participation at the transmission and reception courses at the radio-club, under YO8FR's advice, was as good as possible. I use exclusively the CW mode and my favorite band is the 20m one, which brought me big satisfactions and the confirming of numerous entities. After some financial efforts, because we must say that radio-amateurism is an expensive hobby, I managed to buy the next equipment: a TCVR FT-897 ''fed'' by an Alinco DM-33OMVE source, the MFJ945E tuner-antenna, the SWR power meter SX-600 from Proxel and a FT-60 Handy. For mobile I have FT8900.

For the HF I am using an Eco 7+ antenna ,installed on the top of a block of flats which has 4 stories ( about 15m) and for the UKW a collinear antenna fixed at 1.5 meters on the roof, having a 7m height. Also, from 20 november 2008 I can be contacted through digital modes of communication, especially PSK-31.

My motto: Think free!

The liberty is very important for me, that's why I prefer open source and Linux and as every radio-amateur which respects himself, I have a PC with the following configuration: a Phenom II X2 Processor at 3200Mhz, 4G RAM memory, a FX6800 video card and above these I use Ubuntu, which is a operating system based on Linux, developed on the community, perfect for laptops at home or at work. It includes all the applications you need - an Internet navigator, programs for editing documents, presentations and spreadsheet, instant messaging, a software for radio-amateurs and many others. For more details about this operating system, visit http://www.ubuntu.com .

You must be asking what is my occupation. There are many activities I am filling my time with: family, job, studies, documentation... I like walking with my mind

naked but wearing my shoes. I have a very changing personality so I can be different depending on the seems odd days . I love the heights but I am afraid to reach them because I may fall... I also like the cold and the poetry. I am full of feelings. I listen to good music, regardless of gender.

Did I forget something? Oh...I have got a license :)

I was telling you about my financial effort I made to obtain the equipment, I think it is time to thank to my XYL, Mary, for the moral/financial support but mostly for
understanding that she gives me proof of "support" in terms of my passion for radio. Many times I talk with my radio-amateur friends about this support from our wives and I have reached the conclusion that we have been privileged to fate. Once again thanks to those who stand beside us...

With respect.
